If you’re looking for energetic performances, great music, and lots of laughs, look no further than Burlesque. I would describe it as Coyote Ugly meets Chicago. This movie has lived up to, if not surpassed, the buzz that it has created. Cher + Christina Aguilera = magic!

I’ll start with Christina, who plays Ali in the film. There is no denying that this girl can sing. It is so wonderful and special to watch. Her vocals and acting combined are captivating - there is no doubt that she carries the film. Then we have Cher, who has been in the business for over 40 years, and it is evident that she still has that special quality that has lifted her from star to legend. Also, honourable mention to Stanley Tucci – this man can do no wrong!

Cher plays Tess, the tough but fair owner of a Burlesque club in LA. Ali is a small town girl with big dreams, who gets introduced to the world of Burlesque and works her way up from waitress to star. There is a solid plot, although it’s a story that’s been done before, but the musical numbers are jaw-dropping and the true draw of the film.

This is classic entertainment people – raw talent that is executed with style and flare. Even if you are not a fan of musicals, I would recommend you make the effort to see this movie.
