Oh dear. Silk, eh? I will admit that I watched the movie knowing I would be highly critical of Keira Knightley’s performance, but I wasn’t expecting to be this disappointed in the film itself. If I had to sum up this movie in one word it would be BORING! The plot was so muddled and the acting was so uninspiring that overall I just didn’t care. I don’t even know how to describe the story. It is supposedly set in France, but everyone, including Knightley, speaks with an American accent (well, except Alfred Molina who really can do no wrong). The saving grace that made this movie at least watchable was the cinematography and art direction - bravo. It would be better to cut out all the dialogue and just set the images to music – that’s the Silk I would have rather watched. Actually, I would have been happier buying some silk and staring at it for an hour.
