I’m not a big KISS fan, although I do enjoy watching the occasional ‘Gene Simmons Family Jewels’. But regardless of whether one is a KISS fan or not, this movie is entertaining. It’s basically about a band of four teens that desperately need to attend the KISS concert in Detroit, and overcome many campy obstacles to get there. Jam is the likeable character at the centre of the story, and has a very annoying mother who links KISS to satanic worship. His other friends are likeable as well, but are more prone to causing problems than solving them. Trip (the most loser-ish of the group) has a winning moment at the end of the film which I thought was quite satisfying. Also worth mentioning is wide aray of great music in this movie, not just KISS. In a way it serves as a time capsule for the thrill of rock and roll in the 70s and the enjoyment of great music in general. Overall, this movie was entertaining, and for that I give it 2 stars out of 3.
